EDGECOMB,MAINE
Maureen Kay Hynes peacefully died at home on the morning of February 18th after a brief illness, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and devoted husband of 45 years, Michael Hynes.
Maureen was a loving wife, incredible mother, and enchanting Cha Cha to her grandchildren. She was quick to smile and laugh, forever compassionate and loyal, and a cherished friend. All who had the pleasure to know her will dearly miss Maureen. Her parents Joseph and Myrna Hughes and her sister Cynthia Smith preceded her in death. Maureen is survived by her daughter Shannon Laubenstein and her husband Chuck, their children Tyler and Reilly; her son Eric Hynes and his wife Christine Mahoney, their children Rita and Molly; her son Casey Hynes and his wife Amber; her daughter Elizabeth Hynes, and three beloved granddogs. Maureen’s sister Pat Rigatuso and her husband Joe, her brother-in-law Jeri Smith, and five nieces and nephews also survive her.
After leaving her childhood home of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Maureen’s love of family and travel found her living in Brunswick, Maine; Hanover, Massachusetts; Clifton, Virginia; Beaufort, South Carolina; and finally back to Maine, the place where she truly felt at home. She loved taking care of her family, the challenge of decorating a new house, and her professional career as a dental assistant.
