Obituary of James Hill

James Hill, 55, of Warren, died peacefully at home with his family on Thursday March 26th,2015. Born in Waldoboro, April 24th, 1959 to Arnold and Katharine Bauer Hill. A lifelong resident of Warren, he graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1977 as an honor student. In 1976 Jamie got his Master plumber's license at the age of 17; one of the youngest to achieve this in Maine. He continued to work as a plumber for 33 years. He was a caregiver of the Stahl's Hill cemetery for 35 years, as well as a member and past Grand of I.O.O.F. 127. Jamie was a member of the Warren Historical Society and an avid history buff. As a craftsman he was a self taught basket maker, from raw to finished product. Also a woodworker, who took great pride in building his own home from start to finish. With a love of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, winning the Knox County Fish and Game derby for largest fish twice: once at 13 and again at 15 years of age. Each year he looked forward to caring for his gardens, which were surrounded by stone walls he created. Adding raised beds and new plants each year. Daily walks in the woods were a source of pleasure for Jamie. During these walks, his newfound eye for photography of nature blossomed, each season bringing new and wonderful photos. With family or friends, Jamie was always willing to help, share what he had or lend an ear, whatever was needed. Jamie was predeceased by his mother Katharine Bauer Hill and stepmother Mary McConnell Hill. He is survived by Niva Poland, partner of 22 years; son Deagen and Tricia; father Arnold Hill; grandfather Edward King; two sisters: Jan with husband Chuck, niece Sara with husband Matt Tourgee and grand nephew Peregrin, and Barbara with husband Larry Toler, nephews Lee and Brandon, and grand-niece Annabelle. He is also survived by Aunt Sylvia York and Uncle Tony Marr, Aunt Freda Hand, Uncle Edward Jr and Aunt Carlene King, and many beloved cousins and their families.
