Obituary of Donald Thompson Osborne

Donald Osborne was welcomed home by Jesus Christ at 3:25 a.m. on Friday, April 3rd. Don had received Christ as his personal savior about seven years ago and had the assurance that to be absent from his body was to be face to face with Jesus. Don was a man w ho enjoyed life with the love of his life Marion for the past 35 years. Always smiling with a great sense of humor Don would often answer the question as to how he was with the response, “fine as a frog’s hair”. Don’s health began to fail a few years ago but even in discomfort he would reveal that contagious smile and positive attitude. He was always “other orientated” and never spent much time talking about him-self. Don, with his wife, lived in Belmont but also enjoyed many years of vacationing and living in the Rangley lake area as well. Through his 49 years working with the Operating Engineers Local 3, Don traveled to several countries working as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor. His many stories of adventure while overseas were always a joy to his heart and to those who listened. His last job site was in Israel, building an underground airport used by military to house jets. This was a crowning achievement for a man that had worked in such diverse places as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Maine, Africa and California. Don was a consistent attendant at Abundant Grace Ministry, a member of the Elks Club, VFW, and the American Legion. Don leaves behind his beloved wife, Marion of Belmont; his sister Ann Shone of Stowe, MA; One daughter, Jenny Pilla from Jacksonville, FL; Four step-daughters, Faith Delatore of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Sherry Cunningham of Lincolnville; Melissa Weaver of Bristol; and Kim Sheff of Troy together with one Step-son, Roy (Rick) Smith of Belfast; One grandson, Jason Pilla of N.C.; A favorite nephew, Evan Shone who lives in California; two nieces, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A service is planned for Wednesday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. at his home church, Abundant Grace Ministries located on RT. 131 and Brierly Lane in Searsmont. Donations can be made to the building program of Abundant Grace Church, PO Box 10 Searsmont, Maine 04973
