Obituary of Richard F. Dyer

Richard F Dyer (Dick), age 78, died at Togus Springs in Augusta on Monday April 6, 2015, after a brief illness. Born on March 1, 1937 in Palermo, ME to Herbert and Mava Dyer. He attended Erskine Academy. Dick served in the Army following high school. On July 15, 1961 he married Vera M. Orff. He lived in South China and Palermo. He worked at Hudson Pulp and Paper, co-owned and operated Dick’s Restaurant with his wife, however spent the majority of his working years doing carpentry work with his brothers Royce and Donald. He retired in 2008. Dick was a member of the Masons. He will be especially remembered for his love of golfing with friends and family, especially Jeffrey Jr., hunting with his brothers and nephews, he and his wife always being willing to take in any child who needed a good home, and his sense of humor. Dick will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter Lynn Libby and husband Maurice of Jefferson, sons, Jeffrey Dyer Sr. and girlfriend Tara Ferguson of Palermo, and Matthew Dyer of Lewiston; siblings David Dyer and wife Brenda of Palermo, Ronald Dyer and wife Sherrilyn of Richmond, Donald Dyer and wife Pat of Albion, Sharon Clemens and husband David of Belfast; grandchildren Melanie Armstrong and husband Craig, Jared Libby and wife Kim, Adam Libby and wife Tatyana, Tanya Libby, Jeffrey Dyer Jr and girlfriend Meg Boynton, Ilyda Dyer, Ricky Dyer and girlfriend Jill Raven, and Nichole Ryan and husband Devin; his eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Isabela, Katie, Kelsey, Coltin, Olivia, Paige, and Lillia; and several nieces and nephews. Dick was pre-deceased by his wife Vera, his parents Herbert and Mava Dyer, and his brothers Royce and Howard Dyer. Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Palermo Christian Church located at 322 Branch Mills Rd, Palermo, ME 04354. Burial will be at a later date. Friends and relatives are welcome for a time of visitation following the services. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Togus Springs for the love and kindness they showed to Dick and family during his last days. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
