Obituary of William D. Horton
On June 1st William D. Horton, Jr., 42, of Belfast, passed away peacefully amongst friends and family after his battle with cancer. He died as he lived, with humor, peace and calmness.
Bill was born in Newburyport, MA on October 8, 1972 to Patricia Manson and Bill Horton, Sr.
He graduated from Mount View High School in 1991 where he received the Outstanding Citizenship Award. Roaming the woods in Maine, hunting, fishing and helping his friends were the hallmark of his free-minded, big-hearted nature. His love for music and his free spirit led him all over the country and allowed him to make many friends. Bill was a good and loyal friend to many and a kind, gentle presence in this world.
He leaves behind his wife Bradi Horton of Belfast; sons Sage Horton of Montville and Sebastian Horton of Belfast; daughter Ella Horton Ludden of Jackson; stepchildren Zeke and Keela Field of Belfast, parents Patricia Manson of Washington and Bill Horton of Montville; sisters Sarah Pike of Newburyport, MA, Molly Wilson of Philadelphia, PA, and Emily Horton of Portland; brothers Nathan Horton of Edmunds Township and Jacob Horton of Montville; mother-in-law Doreen Snow of Belfast; father-in-law Robert Snow of Belfast; brother-in-law William Snow of Belfast; grandmothers Charlotte Horton of Rowley, MA and Ann Manson of Washington; Amy Bruington of Montville, Michele Ludden of Jackson, as well as many special friends.
Deep gratitude is felt for those people who cared for and loved Bill to the very end. A special thank you to those at the Waldo County General Hospital and Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County for their support.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Waldo County Shrine Club, 20 Northport Avenue in Belfast, ME on Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bills memory may be made to Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County, P.O. Box 772, Belfast, ME 04915 or hvowc1@gmail.com.
