Obituary of Herbert F. Stickel

STICKEL, HERBERT F., JR. - 78 long time resident of Margate died on June 13, 2015, in Maine with his niece, after a long battle with dementia. He had many skills and occupations, he was a writer, philosopher, lover of nature, and was a MCBP lifeguard, in the Air Guard, mate on sailing and fishing vessels, columnist in the OC Sentinel-Ledger, book/letter writer, handyman, and long-time support to his mother. He was pre-deceased by a host of family mother Jean, father Herbert, brother Peter, sister Ann Marie, nephew Tim Mitchell and is survived by niece Jennifer Mitchell, cousin Vic Stickel, Amanda and Brandon Mitchell, and west-coast cousins. His reverence for all things beautiful, stubborn advocacy for moral politics, and joy of living with friends and family are the hallmarks of his life.
