Obituary of Otis Bowen

BELFAST/AUGUST OTIS BOWEN, passed away June 25, 2015 in Augusta. He was born in Belfast, Maine to Lewis George Bowen and Louise (Hopkins) Bowen. He was a loved father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He grew up and lived his life in the Belfast area. He worked at Maplewood Poultry and later as custodian at Belfast Area High School where he loved interacting and being a role model for the students. He retired from BAHS at the age of 70. Otis was a proud member of Faith Temple Church of God and loved his Lord with his entire being. He married the love of his life, Doris Louise Moody, who predeceased him in 2000. Along with his wife, he is also predeceased by one son, John Bowen; five brothers, Lewis, Wallace, Harrison, Harold and Russell as well as four sisters, Emma, Elsie, Arlene and Priscilla. Otis is survived by one daughter, Wanda Moody and her husband Edward of Belfast; one son Otis Bowen II and his wife Heidi of Augusta; two sisters Mildred Wellman of Belfast, Lois McIntire of Northport and a brother, Carold Bowen; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30th at Smart Cemetery, Belfast. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
