Obituary of Nancy L. Clark
On November 3, 2015 another Marine left the battlefield of life:
Nancy L Clark (Burlingame) born December 23, 1941 passed away peacefully with family by her side in ICU at CMMC. After battling years of illnesses, infections and pain this soldier left this world knowing she fought a courageous battle.
Nancy’s life experiences varied from being in the Marine Corp, to becoming a wife and mother, to continuing her education to become a Registered Nurse later in life and be owner to several race horses. Nancy always made sure everyone she knew was happy, especially during her favorite time of year, the Christmas Season. Each year she would adopt families so that children would not go without. It was always important to her that people smiled and she would do what she could to make that happen, from acting foolish or giving a hug in time of need.
Nancy had a special final wish in life, she wanted to take her last ride thru the corridors of Togus where fellow veterans would stand at attention and salute a flagged draped stretcher as they knew it was a soldier’s last ride. She was unable to get back to Togus for that ride, the staff in ICU at CMMC made a few phone calls and had a flag donated by New Auburn VFW. She and her flag draped stretcher got the salute from staff at CMMC who have been or are currently part of the military. It was an honor to watch these employees come together to help out a veterans last wish. This family cannot THANK YOU enough.
Nancy is now reunited with her husband, Richard G Clark, her parents Lee and Leona Burlingame, her brothers David, James and Douglas; along with her sister Linda. Nancy is survived by her daughter Suzanne Leathers, and her husband Henry, grandsons Damian Fowler and Nathan Fowler. Also, she is survived by numerous family members to include siblings, nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends at Togus.
Services will be held in the spring of 2016 when she will travel home to upstate New York.
Nancy requested to make donations in her name to The American Diabetes Association to honor her life.
