Obituary of David A. Cotton

CHERRYFIELD – David A. Cotton, 59, of Cherryfield, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a veteran who served proudly in the United States Coast Guard until his retirement in 2000. He was an avid Red Sox fan, an excellent chess player and enjoyed fishing and skiing in his spare time. David was predeceased by his parents Marion E. and Ernest Cotton, Sr. He is survived by his son Eric of Peru, Maine; a daughter Nichole and her husband Nick of Connecticut; a special brother Ernest Cotton, Jr.; sister Dixie of Cherryfield; brother Richard of Pittsfield; and brother Timothy and his wife Dianna of Chapman. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Togus Spring Hospice for their caring and dedication and to Community Health and Counseling Hospice program of Machias for helping him to stay at home as long as possible. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on January 23, 2016 at Narraguagus Post #8, American Legion Hall, Cherryfield, Maine 04622.
