Obituary of Austin N. Sylvester

Austin N. Sylvester, Sr. Sept 26, 2019 Damariscotta--- Austin (Sonny) Sylvester, 81, died peacefully at Cove's Edge Long Term Care with his loving family at his side. He was born in Rockland, Sept. 21, 1938, to Lillian and Edward Sylvester. He served time with the US Army and after returning home he worked for Edwards & Company. In 1965, he worked as a guard at the Maine State Prison and married his wife Jane Ames Sylvester. Austin also worked as a carpenter, and ended his career as a Private Contractor for the US Postal Service. Austin leaves behind a wife, Jane, of 54 years, two children, son Austin Jr. and wife Lori Ann, a daughter Hilary S. and her husband Maynard Stanley III, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He resided in Warren on his beloved South Pond. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by many brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend many thanks to everyone at Cove's Edge. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Achorn Cemetary in Rockland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to your favorite charity.
