Obituary of Margaret Ann Sperrey
Margaret “Peggy” Ann Sperrey, 75, of Presque Isle, passed away on May 31, 2019 in Presque Isle. She was born on July 11, 1943 in Caribou the daughter of Donald L. Dorsey and Margaret Dora Albair.
Peggy became a mother at a young age. She and her husband Howard raised their family in Washburn, Maine. This small community comprised of many family and friends provided the back drop and support for their family to thrive. She supported both her husband and her children in all of their endeavors. Although she held various jobs throughout her adult life, the majority of her time was spent raising family and extended family.
Two defining events in Peggy’s life and how she responded to them showed her true character, resilient spirit and dedication to her family. Her daughter’s illness and eventual passing and her husband’s ongoing plight with Alzheimer’s disease.
“Mom”, “Grammy” and “Aunt Peggy” will be remembered for her quirky one-liners and her steadfast belief in showing her true self, unassuming and kind. She enjoyed many friendships through her years and would never hesitate to strike up a conversation with anyone. In later years, once her children were grown, she and Howard thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of three special dogs, surprising as she confessed not to be an animal lover.
Her hobbies were many and included reading, puzzles, bingo, family gatherings and social time with friends.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Kerry Sperrey Bouchard and granddaughter Erin Sperrey. Peggy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard A. Sperrey; her children, Kevin Sperrey, Kirk Sperrey, Keith Sperrey and wife Angel and son-in-law Timothy Bouchard; grandchildren Amanda Sperrey McQueen, Brandon Sperrey, Caitlyn Sperrey Susi, Bethany Bouchard McSparrin, Brooke Sperrey, Kylee Bouchard, Ryan Sperrey, Tyler Farley, Kristi Sperrey Stevens, Sean Sperrey, Skylah Gendreau, Alex Ouellette, Monica Sperrey, Dylan Ouellette, Lorna Sperrey, Sabrina Sperrey, Alaina Sperrey; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At her request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn Street, Caribou, Maine. Burial will follow at the Sperrey Family plot, Crouseville Cemetery, Route 164, Washburn, Maine. Special thanks to the staff at Presque Isle Nursing and TAMC for the care, comfort and support.
