Obituary of Maurice S. Boisvert

MAURICE S. BOISVERT SR. passed away on October 22, 2018 in Baileyville. He was born November 30, 1932 in Biddeford, Maine to Eugene and Stella (Cartier) Boisvert. Maurice entered the U.S. Air Force on August 1, 1950 at the age of 17. He was not of legal age yet and needed to have his father’s signed permission before he was able to join the service. Maurice went through aircraft school beginning in 1950 and was then sent to Japan until 1953. He then returned to Andrews Air Force base in Virginia and discharged from the US Air Force August 1, 1954. He served in the Korean War during this time. After a brief period of 19 months, now veteran Maurice Boisvert decided to re-enlist in the Air Force on June 10, 1955 in order to support his wife, Helen Boisvert. Between the years of 1955 and 1967, Maurice was stationed at several Air Force bases in the United States including Buzzards Bay, MA, Eggland Field, FL and Suffolk County, Long Island in NY. In 1958 he was transferred to Presque Isle, Maine where he and his wife, Helen, had two children at this time. The third child was born in Biddeford and the youngest was born in Maryland in 1965. In his 21 years of military service, Maurice also served several tours overseas from Turkey to Germany to Japan. In 1961 he was stationed in Izmir Turkey for 18 months before returning to Andrews Air Force base in Virginia in 1964. Within the year, he and his family moved to Annapolis, MD in 1965. He was then sent to Bitburg Germany for a short period before his father died, and he needed to help care for his mother so the Air Force transferred him to Pease Air Force base in New Hampshire. Maurice and his family lived and built a home in Kennebunk, Maine. While Maurice finished out his military service years, his wife and children resided in Kennebunk from 1966 to 1996. Our now two-war veteran (Korean and Vietnam) continued to travel to various military locations including an 18-month tour to Okinawa Japan from 1967. His final station was at Pease Air Force base in NH where he retired in 1971 as Staff Sergeant. Maurice and his wife, Helen, had known each other as school children. Maurice states that he went on a blind date with her in 1954 just before Helen graduated high school. They married a year later and started their family of 4 children: 3 boys, Mo, Shane and Michael and one girl, Stella. They lived in Kennebunk before moving Downeast to Baileyville, Maine where they retired and currently live. Maurice stated that he has had not only a busy life but a wonderful life with his wife Helen of 63 years. Thank you for your military service and all that you gave our country.
