Obituary of Stella Guglielmo
Stella Guglielmo, 92, passed unexpectedly at her daughter’s home in Lamoine, Maine on Monday, October 15, 2018. She was suffering from congestive heart failure since the spring of 2015. Stella Luick was born on September 22,1926 in Philadelphia, PA. She was one of eight children born to Mary Postick and Thomas Luick both Eastern European Jewish immigrants who feared anti Semitic sentiments, and as such, baptized all of their children in the Russian Orthodox Church.
All of her siblings are deceased. Even with her confusing religious background, Stella embraced her Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. She is survived by her only daughter, Wynne Guglielmo, of Lamoine, Maine and her canine grand babies: Mr. Pibbs, Misty, Babe,Tula and her faithful Pug, Moses. She has many nieces and nephews living in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia area. Her husband, Joseph “Babe” Guglielmo predeceased her on December 16, 1979.
Stella worked as a companion CNA on the Main Line in PA before retiring. She lived in Pennsylvania for 70 years. She also lived in Naples, Florida for 7 years before moving to Maine. Even though she loved Maine, nothing compared to Pennsylvania to her. She missed it and spoke of it with fond memories.
Stella was a homebody and enjoyed watching TV, cooking, talking with relatives on the phone and keeping her furry grand babies in line.
Per Stella's wishes, there will only be a private farewell being held at Direct Cremation of Maine in Belfast, Maine. In lieu of flowers or donations, please make a contribution in her name to the Hancock County SPCA in Trenton, Maine. They are a no kill shelter and she supports their efforts.
