Obituary of Valdore Joseph Pelletier

Valdore Joseph Pelletier, 85, passed away peacefully July 9th at the Maine Veterans home in Caribou, surrounded by family. “Val”, as he was known by many, was always strong, always wise, always a little serious and never short of a good laugh! It’s these memories and moments in time that bring us comfort when it’s needed the most! The last page of his book has come to a close but his stories, his funny jokes and his unique wisdom, will carry on down through the generations to come! You’ve finally found your happy place Dad; Pappy. You are our “Sunshine” our only “Sunshine” Born January 31st, 1933 in St. Francis Maine, the son of Eddie and Dora (Morin) Pelletier, Valdore was very proud to be a lifelong Veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a self-employed Upholsterer by trade for 41 years and he also owned Val’s Grocery Store in his younger years, where he enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people that came into his business. He loved being a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees), being part of a local bowling team and enjoyed his time working at the Hunters Breakfasts as a member of the Sportsman’s club. Valdore was known by all of his family for playing his guitar at many family get-togethers. He was a talented singer/song writer who wrote and recorded many songs about his family and life in the county over the years. Most of all, Val loved his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he spent many fun and giggly times with over the years. They adored him, they always looked up to him and knew that his words were golden. Valdore is survived by his loving wife Ruby Pelletier of 66 years, his son Jimmy Pelletier, his daughter Tina Soucie and her husband Glen, his daughter Valdine Camire.
