Obituary of Maurice Sargent
Maurice “Moe” Sargent, 75, husband of Beverly Sargent, passed away at his home in Surry on April 11 after a long, hard-fought battle with prostate cancer. Maurice was born Dec. 14, 1942, in Ellsworth, son of the late Horace and Marion Sargent. Moe was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked as a truck driver in Connecticut before moving back to Maine in 1988 to start his own business (Handy Man Service), fully retiring in 2017. He enjoyed hunting, camping and ATVing. He was a founding father, along with Kelton Muise and Rick Nielsen, of Acadia Area ATV Club and always remained active in the club. In 1997, he was instrumental in starting the state ATV organization “ATV MAINE,” was its first president and in 2013 was given president emeritus status for his many years of dedicated service to the organization.
