Obituary of Mary Monica Learned

“Monie” 93 years and 5 months old of Acton, Maine; passed away Saturday, February 24th, 2018. Born on September 28th, 1924 in Lubec, ME to Robert and Edna (Dennison) Bannon, with two siblings, Francis Goss and James Bannon, both deceased. Married to Robert Angus Learned for fifty five years to the day (deceased in March of 2001). Mother to four children, the late Judith Winchenbaugh of Scarborough, ME, and is survived by daughter Elaine Wood of Eliot, ME, and sons Robert Learned, of Acton ME, and James Learned of Billerica MA. Monie is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Raised in the Great Depression of the 1930s, attended eight years at St. Edward’s parochial school and graduated high school in Bar Harbor, at the age of 16, in 1941 and was the youngest in her graduating class. Worked with the civilian air patrol during World War ll stationed at Trenton, Maine airport. Worked for Western Union in Bar Harbor, Bangor, Portland and Rockland, all in Maine. Last employed as a receptionist at the Sanford, Me. YMCA. Lastly, was self-employed buying and selling antiques for several years before retiring. Memorial Service date as yet undetermined; Family and Friends will be notified as details are developed.
