Obituary of Gary Weldon Lane
Gary Weldon Lane, 52, beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly on the morning of Jan. 9, 2018. Gary was born July 18, 1965, in Bristol, Conn., to Rena Coulthard Lane and John H. Lane II.
He graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1983. Gary worked as a building contractor/carpenter, building not only structures but relationships that would prove to last a lifetime.
Gary is survived by his mother and stepfather Rena and Robert Curtis of Ellsworth. One son, Jeremy and wife, Susie, stepsons Joey and Matthew of Phoenix, Ariz. One daughter, Calla Jordan, and husband, Jacob, of Ellsworth. His beloved “girlfriend,” Lee Sargent and children Katlyn and Ian. Seven brothers, Howard of Clatskanie, Ore., Dana and wife, Debbie, and family of Ellsworth, Brent and Family of Bristol, Conn., Donald and wife, Doris, and family of Whitingham, Vt., Dewey and wife, Becky, and family of Eastbrook, Jim and wife, Marie, and family of Eastbrook and John H. III and family of Ellsworth. One sister, Marie Croce, and husband, Ray, and family of Bristol, Conn. Three stepbrothers, Robert Curtis Jr. and wife, Phyllis, and family of Jefferson, Gerald Curtis and wife, Elsie, and family of Bucksport, Thomas Curtis and wife, Olga, and family of Verona Island and Costa Rica. Two stepsisters, Claudette Heath and family of Verona Island and Nancy Bowden and husband, Dennis, and family of Waldoboro.
Gary was predeceased by his father, John H. Lane II.
Gary will be remembered for his generous nature, which earned him the nickname “the Good Gare.”
A well-attended celebration of Gary’s life was held on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Masonic Lodge in Ellsworth.
Gary’s family would like to thank all those who shared a memory, gave a hug and for all the kindnesses extended to our family at this very sad time.
