Obituary of Louise Emerson

Louise Emerson, 89, passed away November 4, 2017. She was born March 13, 1928 to Hanford and Edith Grant of Columbia Falls, the third of their four children. She married Henry Emerson in 1945 and raised 3 children, Lenora, James and David. She was a very hard worker, capable, determined and feisty. She had many jobs including making wreaths, packing sardines, cooking at Helen’s restaurant, the Columbia Falls Grammar School, Pleasant River Drive In and Narraguagus Estates, a migrant bus driver and she loved raking blueberries. Her daughter considered that a form of mental illness, but Gram raked berries with her grandson Bryan into her eighties and would have done it longer if her family would have allowed it. She also successfully ran Emerson’s Ceramics for over 45 years. She always had a smile and a generous heart. Louise is survived by her favorite daughter Lenora and husband David Weaver, by her son David Emerson and daughter-in-law Glenda Emerson Choate ; her grandchildren Nancy and husband Michael Bailey, Steven Chizmas and wife Julie, Joseph Chizmas, Amy and husband V.J. Lenfesty, James Emerson Jr. and wife Danni, Kimberly and husband Chris Bean and David Scott Emerson and wife Angela. She is survived by great-grandchildren Carrie Bailey and her family, Heather Lavaway and her family, Christopher Bailey and his family, Bryan Bailey, Tamra and Kylie Lenfesty, Brady James Emerson, Justin Engstrom, Brittany and Taylor Emerson, Zakery Dubay and Jakob Emerson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Geri Moore and her family and brother-in-law Delmont Emerson and his family as well as many, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Louise was predeceased by her parents, her husband Henry, her siblings Goldie, Sylvia and Clynton, her son James H. Emerson Sr., her granddaughter Valerie and Val’s two children Tia and Nikolas. At Louise’s request, there will be no funeral. There will be a family graveside service at a later date. We would love to have a memory or a story or a picture of her sent to Leni at PO Box 143, Columbia Falls. She will be missed.
