Obituary of Ramona F Price

On the morning of October 12, 2017 we said goodbye to our beloved Mom, Ramona F. Price. She passed quietly with her daughters by her side. Ramona was born on August 15, 1928, the daughter of Nettie Oak of Skowhegan, Maine. She was educated in Schools in Skowhegan, and in 1947 she graduated from Skowhegan High School as Valedictorian of her class. Ramona married the love of her life, Leslie L. Price in 1947. They were married for 60 years prior to Leslie’s passing in 2007. They were the finest example of the love and friendship that two people can share. Ramona loved being a wife, mom and homemaker. She had a large garden every year and would can all her family’s fruit and vegetable needs for the coming winter, a skill her daughters still practice. Ramona so enjoyed baking those “special treats" for her family. One of her children’s fondest memories is getting off the school bus in the afternoon and smelling chocolate cake in the air before reaching the front door. She had a close personal relationship with her God and was a fine example of faith to all who knew her. She felt that faith carried with it a responsibility to reach out to any who might be in need of assistance. Throughout the years, her door was open to children, women and elderly who were in need of aide in some way. She gave to all with a happy heart. From her daughter’s standpoint, one of the greatest gifts she gave them was an understanding of the importance of “play”. Ramona played with her children; coloring alongside them, making clothes and furniture for dolls and rising early on summer mornings to play badminton or croquet before breakfast. By example, she showed them that play was important right through adulthood. When her own children were grown, Ramona then shared this wonderful gift with her grandchildren, who have special memories of playtime spent with Grammie. Ramona was predeceased by her much-loved Mother, Nettie; by her devoted husband, Leslie L. Price; and recently by her grandson, Christopher Price for whom she felt sadness for a life lost too soon. She is survived by daughters Heather Enos, of Skowhegan; Elaine Avery and partner Debra Hutchins of Skowhegan; by son, Steven Price of CT; daughter-in-law Theresa Price of CT; grandchildren; Jennifer Smith and partner Angela Mack of CA, Jayme Avery and mate Delana Epps of NC, Andrew Avery and fiancé Bonnie Willis of RI, Ben Enos and wife Melissa Enos of Kent, UK, Glenda Price-Brewer, Stefanie Price, Casey Price, Mark Price and Jordan Price, all of CT as well as great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ramona’s family wish to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Center for the care given to Ramona. Arrangements have been entrusted to Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast. There will be a private Celebration of Life for family at a future date.
