Obituary of Linda S Knight

Linda Susan Knight a long time resident of Oakland and Belgrade Maine, passed away on September 16, 2017 at the age of 68 at the Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She passed peacefully with family members at her side. Linda was born February 7, 1949, in New York City at Kings County Hospital. Linda grew up in Belgrade, Maine, and was the daughter of Dorothy L. Sawyer and Byron L. Sawyer. Upon graduation from high school, Linda married William Howard Knight of Rome, Maine and became a Navy & Coast Guard military wife, raising three children: Randy (Grafton, MA), Kris (Fairfield ME) and Misty (Waterville ME). After several years of moving across the country with the military, Linda retired back to Maine in 1986. Linda was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. In addition to her strong religious roots, Linda enjoyed spending time at Moosehead Lake and at her son’s camp in Abbott. Linda enjoyed photography, was an avid bird & butterfly watcher, loved nature and being outdoors. Linda wrote poetry and had poems published in various magazines. Linda had a lifelong love of jewelry and fashion. Linda is survived by her son Randy Knight, his wife Dawnmarie and two children Bryan and Svea; her son Kris Knight, his wife Donna Jean and three children Jessica, Christian and Colby; and her daughter Misty Knight and her daughter Avani. Linda is also survived by her sister Ruthy Barker and husband Ray of Sidney and her mom Dorothy Sawyer, Lakewood Continuing Care of Waterville. There are no calling hours and a celebration of life will be at the family’s convenience.
