Obituary of Irene T. Couture

In Loving Memory Irene T. Couture 6/28/1925 –9/3/2017 IRENE T. COUTURE, 92, died peacefully at Lodges Care Center, Springvale, Maine on September 3, 2017. She was born June 28, 1925 in Biddeford, Maine the daughter of Armand Chretien and Bertha (Lavallee) Chretien. Married to Paul A. Couture August 30, 1943 at St. Josephs church Biddeford, Maine. She was his wife and mother to one son. Graduate of St. Josephs school and was employed by the Mitchell shoe shop in her younger years. Then a wonderful homemaker after marriage. Spent nine years in Mystic, Connecticut but longed to return to Maine. When Paul obtained work in Maine the family moved to Acton where they spent their golden years. Always had a love for clothes, shoes, hats, and matching pocketbooks she had an amazing wardrobe for any occasion. Most of the time she and Paul would dress up for a ride to the white mountains with the convertible top down. In fall the heater would be blasting away to keep them warm. Lover of furry friends, especially cats. Irene had 9 cats at one time and also loved the chippies (chipmunks) around her property. Many would climb up and eat out of her extended hands holding special treats. Irene was predeceased by her husband Paul and daughter-in-law Kathy (Anderson) Couture. She is survived by her son Marc and his wife Dianne of Cape Neddick, ME, sister-in-law Marguerite Preisser of Newington, CT and many nieces and nephews. The family intends to have a small private memorial in the future to celebrate Irene and Paul’s life. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at directcremationofmaine.com.
