I always enjoyed you, Alice, and stopping into the Kennebec Book Store. I spent a lot of time there with a friend of mine and she passed away in 2008, which you knew her before you knew me. She, Barbara Workman, introduced you and your bookstore to me. Little did I know at that time that I would be moving back to the Augusta area when I retired in 2008. Much had changed for both of us; however, we both got involved again. I joined you on Sundays at the UU Church and eventually got into a small group ministry that you had been attending for many years. From there we continued to meet at your home in Augusta for years. Eventually, you moved to Granite Hill and I started giving you rides to church and other outings. When the need arose for your to move from the Augusta Area, I saw you much less as time went on. I am ever so grateful for all the time that we did have together, Alice. Peace has come and I light this candle in honor of you, Alice Gifford. Sincerely, Lorna Doone

I will always remember Alice as the sweet lady next door to us in South Bristol who always had a wonderful smile and a cheery word...I'm sure she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
