Obituary of Ruth Louise Salyard Cahoon

Ruth Louise Salyard Cahoon, 85, born 6/13/1931 of Wells, ME passed peacefully on May 16, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth married Raymond Harris Cahoon February 17, 1950 in Somersworth, NH. She was the daughter of Harry and Ruth Salyard of Altoona, PA. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Ruth was a loving mother to four wonderful children. She was a devoted homemaker, enjoyed gardening and ceramics which she taught at the North Berwick Baptist Church’s Sunday school. Ruth went on to get her ceramics teaching certificate and taught classes out of her home for several years. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Raymond H. Cahoon; her two sons and two daughters; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ruth’s requested to not have services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s of Maine.
