Obituary of Bonnie Joy Merrifield

Bonnie Martin Merrifield, 56 of Portland, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 23, 2017 at SMMC in Biddeford surrounded by family and loved ones. Bonnie was born on August 31, 1960 to Wayne and Beverly (Bickford) Martin in Portland. Bonnie is predeceased by her mother and her husband Paul Merrifield. Surviving are her two sons Justin Martin and Michael Merrifield both from Portland, her father Wayne M. Martin, sisters, Becky Martin, Linda Roberts, and Wanda Martin, and younger brother Wayne Martin II and his wife Dianna; Nieces and nephews, a great niece and a great nephew, plus several cousins who were as close as siblings. Bonnie has many friends, from her most recently formed friendships to the ones she has had since grade school. This includes Pierina (Dipietro) Appleton, their friendship began close to 50 years ago becoming more like family than friends. Anyone who knew Bonnie knew she was a kind, fun loving woman. Though she was only a mother of two, she was like a mother to so many more. A celebration of her life will take place on May 5th at the Ramada Plaza (formally Verrillos) 155 Riverside Streets in Portland (Exit 48) from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland 449 Stroudwater St, Westbrook, ME 04092.
