Obituary of Edgar H. Martin

Edgar “Ned” Hough Martin, 83, died Tuesday, August 18, 2017 at the Kennebunk Center for Health & Rehabilitation following a brief illness. He was beloved father to Michael Martin and Brittin Ross and father-in-law to Kerry Martin. He is survived by his brother James. The lights of Ned's life were his granddaughters Michaela, Emilie and Kathryn Martin of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Born in Brooklyn, New York February 21, 1934 he was a gifted attorney who practiced mainly in Washington, DC and handled cases ranging from pharmaceuticals and pesticides to such curiosities as "chicken-proof chicken feeders." He lived many happy years in Alexandria, Virginia and retired to Kennebunk, Maine where he developed strong friendships and was active in the Rotary Club. Throughout his life he enjoyed travel, bicycling, sailing and chocolate ice cream (not necessarily in that order). His honesty, dry sense of humor and generosity will be missed by everyone who knew him. A private celebration of his life will be held at a date to be determined.
