Obituary of Gleneida H Blastow
Gleneida H. (Haskell) Blastow, 98, passed away March 2, 2017 at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born in Deer Isle on April 7, 1918 to William and Cora Haskell.
She grew up in Oceanville where she met and married John Blastow. Together they made their home in Oceanville and raised four children. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her treats with family and friends. She also enjoyed any type of crafts: knitting, crocheting, quilting, ceramics, corresponding with loved ones through letters and cards. Cats, red grapefuit, anything sweet and visits from family and friends, especially the little ones, are things that brought her joy.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, parents, and sister Wyona. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Bernice Quinn and Richard, Gilbert Blastow and Nancy, Kalsey Blastow, and Rachel Cole and Larry; grandchildren and their spouses: Ralph and Nena Quinn, Tami and Mike Linscott, Richard & Lynne Quinn, Tony Blastow, Chris Blastow, Heather and Dale Pangakis, Kimberly and Jay O'Connel, Nicole Blastow, Katie-Bell and Brandon Free, Rory and Danielle Cole, Renee Cole and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Island Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness to Gleneida in her last years.
A service will be planned in the spring to honor her memory.
