Obituary of Ida Louise Blake

Ida Louise (Arbo) Blake died peacefully at 11pm on September 20, 2016 in her daughter’s home in Minot, Maine surrounded by her family. She was born on July 8, 1929 the 8th of 9 children to Persis and Carol Arbo in Hampden, Maine. Ida graduated from Greely High School in 1947 and married Donald L. Blake on July 12, 1947. She held various jobs throughout her lifetime, but being a homemaker and mother was the most important. She raised her family on the farm in Otisfield, Maine. Ida was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald, her parents and siblings and son-in-law Jim Hooker. She is survived by four daughters and one son - Donna Blake Marrero (Paul Marrero), Mercedes, Texas; Linda Hooker, Oxford; Philip Blake, Norway; Beth Barton, Minot; Pamela Gaddis (Mark Gaddis), Nigeria , West Africa; 13 grandchildren: Amy Rodriguez, Rebekah Villanueva, David Marrero, Bethany Shaw, Mike and Peter Hooker, Heath Poland, Ruth, Amanda and Samuel Barton, Blake, Peter and Emily Gaddis; 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a special cousin Greg Dean and several nieces and nephews. A short service celebrating her life will be held October 1, 2016 at 10am at Methodist Cemetery 52 Blackstrap Rd., Cumberland, Me. (Corner of Blackstrap and Upper Methodist Rd), followed by coffee and dessert at Excelsior Grange 446 Harris Hill Rd. Poland, Me. All are welcome.
