Obituary of Connie Horvath

ITHACA, NY; KENNEBUNK and SACO, ME - Connie flew on the wings of angels to join the Heavenly Father on July 28, 2016, just 24 days after her 100th Birthday. She was surrounded by the love of her family. After her parents, Maria DeChellis Teti and Alfred Teti, and her sisters immigrated from Termoli, Italy to the United States in 1915, Connie was born July 4, 1916 in Buffalo, New York. She was the first in the family to be born in the US. Connie’s family moved from Buffalo to Ithaca, New York when she was two. She continued to live there until she was eighty two when she moved to Kennebunk, Maine to be near her daughter Connie Lou Liguori and husband Tony, grandson Joe Liguori, and great-grandchildren Laura Mills, Shawn, Ryan and Tyler Liguori. All her grandchildren were the light of her life and could do no wrong in her eyes. An excellent student , Connie graduated from Ithaca High School and continued her education at Ithaca Business School, which later became Ithaca College. Connie had a long career as an accountant in Ithaca, retiring when she was eighty two. Connie was married in 1937 to Louis J. Horvath and they shared life until his death in 1982. They had one daughter, Connie Lou Liguori who is married to Tony Liguori of Kennebunk, ME. While in Ithaca Connie’s life was focused on her husband, daughter, extended family and work. When she moved to Kennebunk she became a “social butterfly” joining organizations like the Red Hats, Golden Girls, and Senior Center at Lower Village. She went on trips and excursion whenever possible. She also was a member of St. Andrews Parish in Kennebunk, whose parish members became her “Second Family”. In August of 2012 Connie had a stroke and moved to Seal Rock Health Center in Saco. Her family was always grateful to the wonderful caring staff there, which lovingly cared for her until her death. We are also grateful to the Beacon Hospice personnel who assisted her and the family with compassion and care. The family expresses eternal thanks to each of these exceptionally dedicated people. Her special friends Jane and Pauline filled her heart with joy. Connie was predeceased by her parents, husband Louis, her sisters Erma Parente, Jean DePasquale, Anna Bucci and her great grandson Kyle. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Connie Lou and Tony Liguori, grandson Joe Liguori (Janie Giles), great-grandchildren Laura Mills, Shawn, Tyler, and Ryan Liguori. Connie also is survived by her nieces Diane Combs (Frank), Jennie Morris, Rose Natali, Louise Morey, her nephew Fred (Jan) Parente and numerous great nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held in Ithaca, New York at a later date.
