Obituary of Paul Hannes Salo
OWLS HEAD – Paul Hannes Salo, 63, passed away at Sussman House on December 18, 2015. Paul was born in Rockland, the son of Hannes and Gertrude (Carmody) Salo, on May 20, 1952. Paul was a member of Knox County Fish & Game. He was an avid shooter and enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, and playing in an adult touch football league. Paul was a big New England Patriots fan and a huge WWII history buff. He worked at Frankie’s Garage for many years and was a gifted auto mechanic. He also worked for many years at the Rockland Burger King. Paul loved both dogs and cats but especially his dogs, Peaches, Bea and Coco.
Paul was predeceased by his parents and his longtime companion Lola Chickering. He is survived by his wife, Diane; son Paul Salo, Jr. and his wife Leeann of Belfast, daughter Trisha Sproul and sons Joe Salo with wife Angela and Daniel Salo with companion Mariha all of Owls Head, son Seth Batty of South Thomaston, step-son Brandon Greenwood of Barnstead, NH and step-daughter Megan White of Farmington, NH; ten grandchildren; brother Gary W. Salo and wife Cindy of Warren; nephew Hannes R. Salo, niece Aili Robinson and her husband John and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held on January 2nd at 3:00pm at the Owls Head Community Center. Donations may be made in Paul’s name to Sussman House, Rockport, Maine or Pope Memorial Humane Society.
