He graduated from Messalonskee High School in 2009 and went on to study Massage Therapy at Kennebec Valley Community College. Rod began his spiritual journey at a young age. He was curious about the mystical and how to tap into the spiritual knowledge and energy we all possess but have forgotten how to use. He was interested in healing others and connecting those existing with those in the spirit realm. Rod enjoyed playing video games, walking outside in the woods, meditation, Reiki, crystal work, and Poi. He was also sharing his life with his fiancé O’brien Plaisted. Rod was predeceased by his uncle Roderick Carmichael. Rod is survived by his father Neil Carmichael and his wife Doreen Haskell; his mother Suzanne Ashcroft-Mills and her partner John Corbett; his sister Kristie Pass; step-sisters: Dawne Southworth, Debbie Tyler, and Danielle Harriman; his grandparents: Diane Prescott and her husband Alan, Herbert Carmichael and his wife Shirley; Pauline Ashcroft, and Richard Ashcroft and his wife Janice; his uncles Michael Ashcroft and his wife Melanie, Stephen Ashcroft and his wife Beth, Robert Ashcroft and his wife Diana, aunt Jeanne Beliveau and her husband Leo; his cousins Troy Ashcroft, Valerie Ashcroft, Chris Ellis, Nicole Ellis, Allee Cloutier, Victoria Beliveau and Christian Beliveau; his nieces Ryleigh Beeton and Madelyn Southworth, and nephew Mason Knowlton. Rod spent his life bringing light and healing energy to all he knew, and as he continues his journey with an enlightened perspective on our lives here on earth, there is no doubt that he will be reaching out to us. To honor Rod, we will hold a celebration of life on Sunday March 6, 2016 at 1pm at the Liberty Community Hall. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
