Obituary of Robert Sumner Pomroy

Ellsworth - ROBERT SUMNER POMROY, 80, earned his wings on March 24, 2016, surrounded by his family after a 8-year battle with Alzheimers. Born March 18, 1936 in Ellsworth, ME, the son of Ralph and Ila (Kelley) Pomroy. Robert was a veteran of the US Army and worked at Thames River Tube Company in RI for 48 years. After retirement Robert returned home to Maine, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert was predeceased by his parents, his twin Richard, and brothers Gordon and Everett. Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, and the love of his life Kathy (Whipple) Pomroy, of 28 years. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his son Robert Pomroy and his wife Donna of CT; two daughters, Lisa Martell and her husband Wayne of CT and Tammy Smith of Maine. Ten grandchildren are left behind: Robert Baker of NH; Mark, Robert (BJ), James, Shannon, Daniel and Nicole all of CT; Tina, TJ and Trisha of Maine and 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly. Roberts is also survived by 4 siblings: Constance Kane of CT; Mary Ellen Carter, Kenneth Griffin, Kathie MaComber all of Maine. There will be a memorial at a later date to be determined.
