Obituary of Frank A. Bissell
FRANK A BISSELL JR., 82, passed away at his home in Knox on April 21, 2016.
He was born July 10, 1933 in Searsport, Maine the son of Frank and Teresa
(White) Bissell Sr. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1951
to 1954. He was a paratrooper in Korea in the 187th Airborne and in the
United States, part of the 11th Airborne. He was part of the Rakkasans and
had 68 jumps during his career. He worked as a mason contractor and was a
part-time ambulance attendant, Waldo County Deputy, Belfast Police
Department and was a volunteer of the Belfast Fire Department.
He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers Gordon and Harold Bissell and
close friend Raymond Grenier. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 40
years, Linda (Bailey) Bissell of Knox; his son Tom Bissell Sr. and wife
Diane of Morrill; his sister Dottie Wright and husband Ronnie of Hope;
grandchildren Melissa Curry and T.J. Bissell; several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29th at 11 a.m. at Riposta
Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Interment will be held privately
