Obituary of Ruth J. Pope

RUTH POPE, 84, passed away April 23, 2016 at her residence in Belfast. She was born May 4, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts. Ruth, or as many called her “Ma”, loved life. She enjoyed opening her home to family and friends chatting and always offering something to eat. She liked going to try her luck at the slots. She also enjoyed listening to Willey’s Place on the radio. She was predeceased by her father, Fred Stanley, her mother Daisy, sister Betty, brother Joe and son Ralph, step-son Gene Pope. Ruth is survived by her husband of 49 years, her children, James King Sr. and wife Margaret of East Wilton, Fred Cameron Sr. and wife Madeline of Jackson, Theresa Cameron and husband David of Belmont, Step-son Stephen Pope and wife Sheila of Effingham, NH, stepson Clement Pope Jr and wife Charlene of California; grandchildren Jamie, Jim, Stanley, Betty, Josephine, Ruth, Jeremy, Mary, Fred, David, Junie, Lisa, Theresa, David, Mary, Tom, Matt, Michael; 40 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.
