Obituary of Dorothy Franklyn

SKOWHEGAN – Dorothy Regina Franklyn (LaPointe), 91, passed away peacefully at Mount St. Joseph Hospital with family by her bedside on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She also resided at Snow Pond Residential Care, Oakland, Maine for several years. Known by most as Dot, she was born on July 3rd, 1924 to Peter and Lumina (Samson) LaPointe in Skowhegan. Dot attended schools at the Catholic school in Skowhegan. Over several years, she worked at the Spinning Mill and Medwed Footwear as a stitcher before retiring. In 1968, she married Russell Franklyn. She loved to spend time visiting friends and family along the way and playing cribbage every chance she could. Dot was predeceased by her parents, her husband, three brothers and seven sisters. She is survived by her son David LaPointe and his wife Debbie, of Davenport, FL; two grandsons Michael and Eric LaPointe and their children in North Carolina; sister Lorette George and her husband Joseph of CT. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at a later date in Skowhegan.
