Obituary of Karl Buck Kehler
Karl Buck Kehler, 76, of Rockport, Maine, died on November 19, 2019 at the Sussman House hospice. Karl was born in Manchester, Connecticut, to Karl J. and Margaret E. (Buck) Kehler on February 1, 1943. He graduated as salutatorian from Manchester High School in 1961.
Karl earned BS and MS degrees from MIT in Electrical Engineering. He was also a Certified Management Accountant. He had a long career in corporate finance at Texas Instruments and Alliance Data Systems in Dallas, Texas. He and his wife Marlene retired in 2005 to Rockport, Maine.
In retirement Karl used his financial skills as treasurer of the Rockport Golf Club, First Universalist Church in Rockland and the WindowDressers, a non-profit volunteer organization that builds insulating window inserts to improve the warmth and comfort of homes.
Karl loved outdoor sports and activities. He was a life-long skier, an avid sailor, kayaker, golfer, as well as an amateur astronomer. He was a natural at coaching and teaching. The consummate engineer, Karl enjoyed knowing how everything worked. He could repair just about anything. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, family was of the utmost importance to him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlene (Forde) Kehler, a daughter Anne Marie Carlisle (William Carlisle) of Denver, Colorado, a son Dr. K. Bradley Kehler (Dr. Lori Ann Kehler) of Nashville, Tennessee, four treasured grandchildren Garren and Molly Carlisle, Vincent and Charlotte Kehler, sisters Joel Jackson (Glenn) and Lisa Bubar (James), brother-in-law Bruce Forde (Donna) and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a beloved cousin Connie Kehler of Dallas, Texas.
