Liz passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, surrounded by family and friends after battling an aggressive medical condition.  Liz was born on April 23, 1952 to Larry and Jane Smith of Otter Creek.  In 1969 Liz married James Nolen and welcomed two children, Robert and Carrie.  In 1976 Liz married Kenny Leighton and had their daughter Amy.  After losing her husband Kenny she married John Iaquessa in 2013 and moved to Steuben where she lived out her life on “Yesterdays Farm” and digging in the dirt and propagating her plants which brought her joy.

Liz loved to spread her time outside.  She enjoyed yard saling, gardening and her time at camp.  She was also a master of arts and crafts, she had many hobbies and skills including painting, sewing, baking, woodworking and making beautiful handcrafted gifts.  She made friends everywhere she went, and her door was always open for coffee and a chat.

Liz was preceded by her parents Larry and Jane Smith and her brother Dennis Smith, all of Otter Creek.  She is survived by her brother Stephen Smith, her son Robert Nolen and wife Ellen, daughter Carrie Nolen and Matthew Fronczak and daughter Amy Leighton, grandchildren Megan Nolen, Conrad Strout, Carley Henderson, Kane Fronczak and greatgrandchild Casey Goodison.  Liz also held a special place in her heart for her bonus grandchild Collin Bobick.  She leaves behind nieces, nephews and too many special friends to list.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be held at the Otter Creek Hall on Sunday April 28, 2024 from 10am – 1pm.
