Guy Philip Hinkley passed away on August 26th, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Guy was born January 10, 1959, in Lewiston, Maine, to Clarence and Simone Hinkley. He grew up in Sabattus as the middle of three brothers and graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1977, where he was a standout athlete in basketball, baseball, and track and field, as well as a member of the National Honor Society. He later served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic and was stationed in Germany.

Guy met the love of his life, Stacey, in 1985, and they married on May 9, 1987. They made their home in Winthrop, where they raised their two daughters, Amber and Shelbie. His family was the center of his world, and nothing brought him more joy than being a husband, father, and “Happy” to his five grandchildren: Elyse, Jac-Lynne, Emma, Bradley, and Daniel. He spent much of his retirement babysitting his grandchildren, taking them fishing, attending their school and sporting events, and enjoying pizza party nights together.

Guy had an incredible work ethic and had recently retired from TexTech Industries after 20 years, where he was a well-loved supervisor and mentor. When he wasn’t working, fixing a car, or tackling a project, he could be found fishing, hunting, or cheering on his favorite New England sports teams.

Guy was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Jr. and Simone Hinkley, and his lifelong best friend, Tim White.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Stacey; their daughters, Amber Coyne and her husband Bjorn , Shelbie Braithwood and Andrew Braithwood ,and his beloved grandchildren; his constant companion, Humphrey; his in-laws, Tom and Nina Gallant; Tammy and Bob Conner and their daughter Lakin; and Megan Gallant. His brothers, Skip (Clarence III) Hinkley and his wife Jennifer, and Lee Hinkley and his wife Jaynne; as well as many other family members, friends, and loved ones.

Anyone who knew Guy knew him as a loving and supportive husband and father, a loyal friend, and a kindhearted man who could make anyone feel like family. He was funny, caring, hardworking, endlessly helpful, and known for his positive “it is what it is” attitude. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger, and he will be missed more than words can say.

There will be no funeral. His family plans to hold a celebration of his life on October 24th from 2pm-8pm at the American Legion in Winthrop, where friends and family can share happy memories and remember him the way he would have wanted — as a fun-loving, caring man who loved his family and friends deeply.
