Gloria B. Brown Mayo

March 4, 1942 – August 14, 2026

Gloria B. Brown Mayo, 84, passed away on August 14, 2026, at Orchard Park Rehab and Living Center in Farmington, Maine.

Gloria was born on March 4, 1942, and grew up in Carthage, Maine, alongside her older sister, Glennis Averill, and her younger brother, Elwin Brown. Throughout her life, Gloria often spoke fondly of her younger years and the many memories she made while working at the Farmer’s Wife. She also cherished her memories of participating in events at the Carthage Grange Hall as a youth, which remained a special part of her memories of growing up in Carthage.

Gloria was married to Craig R. Mayo for 25 years. Together, they made their home in Winthrop, Maine, where they raised their four children: Randy Craig Mayo, Travis Scott Mayo, Kurt Allen Mayo, and Bridgitte Marie Mayo Veilleux.

Her family includes her late son, Randy Craig Mayo, who passed away on November 28, 2022; her son Travis Scott Mayo and his children, Zachary Mayo and Olivia Mayo and Gracie Jordan; her late son Kurt Allen Mayo, who passed away on November 6, 2001, and was married to Annie Mayo, and their son, Matthew Mayo, as well as Scott and JJ Mendoza; and her daughter Bridgitte Marie Mayo Veilleux and her husband, Marc Veilleux, and their daughter, Morgan Veilleux. She also had four great-grandchildren.

Gloria had many nieces and nephews and shared a special and loving relationship with her sister-in-law, Linda Brown, who held an important place in her life.

Later in life, Gloria worked for several years at Carlton Woolen Mills before retiring. She enjoyed traveling along the beautiful Maine coast, crocheting, and spending time doing the things she enjoyed.

Those who knew Gloria will especially remember her infectious laugh—a laugh that was unmistakably hers and one that will remain in the memories of those who knew her.

Gloria lived 84 years filled with many different chapters, experiences, and memories. She also endured the profound loss of two of her sons, Kurt and Randy. Her life and the memories she leaves behind will continue through those who knew her.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held for family.
