Stanley Paul Lucas, Jr., passed away in Canton, ME on June 11 at the age of 72. Stan grew up in Clinton, N.J., with his parents and two siblings. Stan graduated from North Hunterdon High School where he was on the wrestling team and president of the Student Council. He graduated from Trenton State College with honors.

Stan was a talented artist, in different mediums. He had a great sense of humor and a kind and generous heart, helping family members and friends in times of need. Stan was a deeply faithful Christian. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, which he chose for his grave marker.

Stan moved to Maine to join family members who had already moved there. In Maine, he established a house painting business in the Portland area. He loved to go fishing with his friend, Jane, who would cook the fish on a grill, so they could enjoy it right after the catch. Stan also loved cats and shared his home with both Misty and Buddy.

Stan moved to the Rumford area where he was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church. Eventually Stan needed clinical care for various ailments. He became a resident at Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Canton, where the employees created a warm and caring home for him.

Stan is predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and many relatives. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Lucas, from South Portland, his brother, John Lucas, from Gig Harbor, WA, many cousins in New Jersey, his friend, Jane Mello from South Portland, and his friend, Pastor Justin Thacker from Andover. Pastor Justin met Stan delivering him a turkey on November 21, 2003 and they enjoyed a friendship for almost 23 years.

A funeral will be held for Stan at Praise Assembly Church, 89 Congress St., Rumford on June 20 at 10 a.m. The internment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland on June 23 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pinnacle Health and Rehab, 26 Pleasant St., Canton, ME 04221, in appreciation of their loving care for Stan over many years. Stan will be dearly missed. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that he is with his beloved Lord and Savior.
