Harris E. Horne Obituary
Lewiston - Harris E. Horne, 81, a lifelong resident of Litchfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 25, 2026. He would often joke about having “one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel,” and in true Harris fashion, he finally slipped on that banana peel.
Harris was born in Gardiner on December 1, 1944. He attended Litchfield schools and later pursued studies in autobody work. He had a lifelong passion for car repair and autobody finishing. He also spent many years driving 18-wheelers and loved driving his "big blue Peterbilt".
He was predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Ruth Horne; his daughter, Debra Horne; infant son, Harris Horne Jr.; and infant grandson, Gregory McDonald.
He is survived by daughters Michelle McDonald (Michael), and Sharon Cummings (David) both of Litchfield, Andrea Horne and partner Jason Rioux of Sabattus, grandchildren Kristen, Kayla, and Christopher Fowler; Alyssa, Michael, and Sophia McDonald; Tyler and Olivia Cummings; Kaden and Jackson Pester, and Payton Rioux. A special niece, Wendy Starks, and former wife, Tammy Ferrari (Jimi) of Livermore; as well as several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the medical staff who helped take great care of him during his last years.
At Harris' request, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to an animal rescue of your choice.
