Juanita "Nita" Louise Provencher, 94, of Alfred, ME, died in Saco, ME on March 8, 2026.

Nita was born in the Bronx, NY in 1931 to Louise Lashua & Thomas Joseph Morrissey.

 Nita attended middle school in Long Island NY, and graduated Hampstead high school in Hampstead​, NY before studying Nursing at Long Island University in Long Island NY. After a brief career in nursing Nita moved to Sanford ME. in 1952 . Nita went on to work at General Electric in Somersworth NH. After a few years she moved into banking and was a teller at Sanford Institute for savings and then onto Pepperell Trust Bank In Biddeford, ME. Shortly after ending her banking career Nita worked for H&R Block doing taxes.

Nita and Jack Rodgers started a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Harry Rodgers and Kathleen Rodgers were loved and well cared for by both Nita and Jack. Kathy is no longer with us as she passed in 1997. Nita also leaves behind two stepsons in Bruce and Danny Provencher.

Nita met the love of their life, Robert Provencher in 1972 on Square Pond through mutual friends. They were married one year later in the living room of those friends Nancy and Malcolm Carlton, or rather known by family as The Carltons. They both loved traveling and golf. They went on multiple cruises together and went skiing in the Alps of Switzerland. Bob and Nita built two lovely homes together in Biddeford and enjoyed several winters in Lady Lake, Florida together.

Though Nita loved golfing, her favorite role was that of a grandparent. Nita was a grandmother to Christopher, Ryan and Matthew Rodgers, along with Charlie Pierce. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their Mimi & Grammy, never failing to grace them with her famous Christmas Crab Cakes, which is still a tradition carried on by her eldest grandson Christopher Rodgers.

Nita also leaves behind several other beloved family members. Her Brother Edward Fox and his wife Marty. Ed and Marty's children Ed Jr. and Whitney. Along with her cousin Sonja and Mike Fagan and her cousin Nina Lashua in Florida.

Ginger, Nita's dog has a soft spot in her heart, as she was there for her shortly after losing her husband, Robert Provencher.

Nita was an active member of The Holy Cross Lutheran Church, which is where she met her late husband Albert Allen.
