Suzanne Annette Tobey Obituary

Suzanne A. Tobey, 68, of Leeds, Maine, passed away after a long battle with lung disease at the Andwell Hospice House on March 7, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Lewiston, Maine, on February 3, 1958, to parents Gaston Mercier and Irene Mercier-Guay. She worked at Schooner Estates as a dietary aide for 28 years before retiring.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Normand and Roger; and her life partner, Mark Arneault. She is survived by her daughters, Annette Buccheri and her husband, Aaron, of Leeds, Maine, and Joanne Bellmore and her husband, Danny, of Greene, Maine; her grandchildren, Tyler, Stone, Kaylee, Payton, and Kayla; and her great-grandson, Sylas. She also leaves behind lifelong friends Anna Marie Mason and Karen Heater.

Suzanne was a skillful seamstress and had a knack for making unique pieces for family and friends, including wedding dresses, Halloween costumes, purses, and quilts. She was an excellent cook and an avid traveler. When she wasn’t spending time at the beach or traveling, she enjoyed her summers at Range Pond Campground.

She loved her daughters and grandchildren deeply. She will be reunited with her partner Mark and those who passed before her, whom she loved dearly.

While there will not be a formal service, a celebration of life will be held on March 13 from 5–9 p.m. at Nutty Nettie’s Café, 34 Court Street, Auburn, Maine. All friends and family are welcome to join.
