Rosemary Lailer Obituary

Rosemary Lailer, 79, passed away on February 26th after a long battle with cancer in Augusta Maine. She was born on May 14,1946 in Portland Maine, to Robert C. Buotte and Margaret A. (Sawyer) Buotte. She grew up South Portland Maine and graduated the class of 1964 SPHS. She cherished the South Portland and Cape Elizabeth area. Her favorite places to visit were Portland head light ,Two lights, Bug Light, the Lobster shack and Kettle cove. She always looked forward to visiting those places when she could and stopping at an Amatos and enjoying an Italian sandwich or a donut from Tony’s donuts in Portland. 


Rosemary married the love of her life Frank in 1965, they were married for 52 years. They settled in Westbrook and raised their family. Rosemary enjoyed reading, watching her favorite tv shows and spending time with her family and friends. In her younger years Rosemary enjoyed boating on Casco bay in the summers and trips to Disney world with her family and family cookouts by the pool in the summers. 


Rosemary worked as a unit clerk in the emergency room department at Maine Medical Center for nine years in her younger years. She also worked at two different doctors offices as a receptionist/secretary for several years. She ended her working career working in provider services at Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance company for fifteen years. 


Rosemary leaves behind her three children. Son, Timothy Lailer and wife Elizabeth of Hartland Wisconsin., daughter, Anne Fongemie and her partner Michael Laplante of Gardiner Maine., son , Frank Lailer Jr. and wife Kimberly of Fairfield Maine. Grandchildren, Samuel, Alexandra, Charles, Grace, Peter, Joseph and great granddaughter Rylie Rose. A sister Sharon Smith of South Portland and two nieces Kimberly Smith of Westbrook and Allison Caron of South Portland and a great nephew James Godin of Florida,and her dog Bailee. 


She is predeceased by her husband Frank Lailer Sr. and her nephew Robert (Bub) Smith. 


Per her request there will be no memorial service. 


Rosemary was a kind, loving and very generous person. She loved her children and grandchildren very much, she was proud of all of them.  She had the most beautiful smile. She had a huge heart and will be deeply missed forever. She will be reunited with her husband Frank and those who have passed before her that she loved so dearly.
