Carolyn Joy McMahan Obituary
Carolyn Joy McMahan (Butler), 64, of Rockland, Maine passed away on February 18th, 2026 in Spruce Head Maine.
She was born in Rockland, Maine October 6th, 1961 to David and Donna Butler.
Carolyn was known by many for her charming banter, hard working attitude, and Harley girl style. A confident and easygoing personality showed alongside the ability to be humble and generous towards others. Hobbies included domestic pleasures such as gardening, cooking, and cleaning as well as riding motorcycles, sun worship, puzzles and let’s not forget what an ace at scrabble she was.
She attended Rockland District High School and was hazmat trained. A jack of all trades in the service industry for most of her life, she worked primarily as a bartender, but also would moonlight as a cook, server, or bouncer.
For several years, Carolyn worked in environmental cleanup work as well, giving her the chance to travel the country and beyond. She enjoyed warming up in Florida most winters.
She is survived by her daughters, Erica Dever and husband Justin, of Warren, Elena McMahan of Portland, and siblings Deanne Lins and husband Tony of Georgetown, Texas, Jennifer Hatch of Hampden, and Randall Butler, and wife Gretchen, of St. George, an aunt and uncle Sylvia and Wilbur Birmingham, an uncle, Bill Butler, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Butler and Donna Dearborn and an Aunt, Gloria Higgins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date TBD.
