02/17/2026 Mary Hewett took her last breath with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on November 24, 1940 in Gardiner, Maine to mother Margaret Berry and then adopted into the home of Avery and Nina Colby of Somerville, Maine.
Mary Received her early education in a one room school house in Sommerville, Maine, which is now located on the Windsor Fair Ground, before graduating from the Erskine Academy.
Mary worked at her aunt's diner in Windsor for several years which spawned her love of cooking and led her to many other positions throughout the local area. Mary cherished those experiences and the friends she made along the way.
Mary loved playing bingo, watching NASCAR, and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Socks. Her love of the Red Socks began while watching games on a black and white tv with her father. She was also an avid bird watcher and always made sure her multiple bird feeders were full.
Mary was preceded in death by her birth mother Margaret Berry and her parents Avery and Nina Colby. Mary is survived by her three children, daughter Lisa and her finance, Clyde, of Somerville, Maine, daughter Paula and her partner Ame of Windsor, Maine, son Steven and his husband Jim of Austin, Texas, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and close friends near and far that meant so much to her.
There will be no services or visitation however donations are encouraged to a local animal shelter or charity as Mary loved animals, especially those she was able to bring into her life.
The family would like to share their deepest thanks and appreciation to MaineGeneral Hospice and their excellent staff who provided amazing support and care over the last several months.
