Clayton, or better known as Gordy, was born on August 3, 1943, in Lewisburg, PA, the son of Clayton and Miriam Keiser.
Gordy graduated from Milton PA High School. While in school Gordy participated in 4H, rodeo, and riding his horse with buddies into the mountains.
Gordy entered the Air Force in 1962, where he was stationed at Loring Airforce Base. He became crew chief on the KC-135. While in the Air Force he was also in a band called the Palatkateers, he was lead singer and played the accordion.
After the Air Force Gordy returned to Pennsylvania to work in the family trucking business. Later, he returned to settle in Mapleton and worked for various trucking companies, including St. Johnsbury Trucking, McCain Transport, and a few others. He was very happy hauling freight from the East to West Coast and back. Prior to retiring in 2004, Gordy owned and operated his own rig, Brittany Express.
Gordy had an endless supply of jokes, which he would deliver to you in rapid-fire fashion. Along with the jokes were trucking, hunting and fishing stories galore.
When Gordy was not trucking, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Camping with friends and family was also one of his favorite activities.
After retiring in 2004, Gordy still enjoyed the outdoors, as well as carpentry projects around the house and helping family with theirs and sitting on the porch telling his jokes and all his stories to all who would listen, always a captivated audience. As someone put it, the “Legend of Mapleton” will be sorely missed.
Gordy is survived by his wife Alice Keiser; Sons Sheldon Keiser and his wife Heather, Corey Keiser and his partner Nadine Deschaine, Reggie Keiser and his wife Dani; Stepdaughter Tammy Thompson and her husband Scott; Grandchildren Tyler Keiser and his wife Whitney, Spencer Keiser and his wife Marissa, Dawson Beaulieu and his partner Darby, Abby Keiser, Josh Keiser and his wife Lain, Landon Keiser and his partner Kemzen, Houston Keiser and his wife Haley, Dylan Elliott and his partner Casey; Great Grandchildren Charlotte, Gabriella, Sawyer, Charlie, Kasen, Kody, and Bailey.
