Billijo Arlo Damon left the cirley bonds of Earth, to embrace the souls of loved ones; whom have gone before her. Billijo passed on January 12th, 2026 peacefully surrounded by loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Billijo was predeceased by her husband Ira Damon, tragically losing him many years ago.
Billijo was born on June 28th, 1957, in Seguin, Texas as Billijo Thompson. She went on to have three loving sons; survived by Stephen Hardy, Patrick Fitzgerald, and Joseph Fitzgerald. Each son provided her with a lovely grandchild; Katelyn Hardy, Zack Fitzgerald, Matthew Fitzgerald, and one great-granddaughter Willow Bowen. She is also survived by her cherished daughter-in-law, Nichole Fitzgerald. Billijo enjoyed many delicious meals Nichole provided; oftentimes one of those meals could be found waiting for her in the microwave after a long hard day’s work. Billijo is also survived by two young men she loved as her own sons; Shawn Surma and Wayne Grondin enriched her life in many ways. Billijo is also survived by her life partner Darney Campbell, happy to be known as “Lovey” far and wide; they were described as two peas in a pod; never exchanging a harsh word in 11 years of companionship. Billijo was family to all foe to none. Billijo worked for many years in the mental health field, and supported living working in many area group homes. She personally helped many young and old get their footing; pointing them in the direction of success, all of whom she loved as family. Billijo’s motto was you can have anything you want; you just have to work hard for it. Billijo always had an open door, a meal to eat and a place to lay your head for anyone that needed it.
Billijo’s most cherished memories she shared with her “lovey,” family gatherings, her years spent with young Zack planting trees, picking berries, pitching marbles, eating oreos and bacon wrapped scallops just to name a few. She loved attending Katelyn’s dance recitals and seeing her become a young mother to her beautiful great-granddaughter Willow.
Billijo’s favorite pastime was reading boxfulls of books she trade with Lovey’s mother Phyllis Campbell. She enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife from her little glass room. Billijo loved all critters great and small, her pets she called furballs, and loved telling stories of Fred and Shorty’s many escapades. Billijo told her Lovey “Don’t cry; live for me, love for me, party for me. When you’re happy, so am I.” She meant that for all of us.
Love y’all OXOXOX
