Martine Roberta St. Pierre died at Cary Medical Center on January 10, 2026, after a brief illness. Martine was born September 6, 1956 in Van Buren, and attended Van Buren District schools, graduating in 1974. Martine married Richard “Chid” St. Pierre in November 1974. Together they had one child, Michelle Emily, born in November 1976.
Unfortunately Richard passed in 1997 when Martine was only 40 years old. In time, Martine was fortunate to find a second love, Wendell Bourgoin, who also predeceased her in 2023, after 23 years together, living initially in Gray-New Gloucester and then Van Buren.
Martine worked as a chambermaid for the former Colonial Motor Inn, and as a laundry aid at Borderview Manor. When Martine moved to Gray-New Gloucester she worked at Ledgewood Manor and Burger King. She also did in home child care for the Napolitano family and was known as “Memere Tine”.
Martine is survived by her only child, Michelle Emily Flynn (Dr. Carl Flynn), 3 grandchildren- Abby Ayotte (fiancé Luc Perreault), Alec Ayotte and Adam Ayotte. She is also survived by her older brother John Parent (Muriel Parent). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and several special in-laws, with the “Lebel family” serving as her immediate family when she lived in Gray-New Gloucester.
Martine was predeceased by Richard and Wendell, her parents Martin and Lorette Parent, in-laws Emile and Beatrice St. Pierre, her sister Martha (Boo) Parent, brothers Richard (Chid) Parent and Donald (Barnes) Parent, a sister in-law Dorothy (Dot) Lemke, and a brother in-law Reno (Blanc) St.Pierre.
Martine loved all sports, especially loved her Van Buren Crusaders and Wisdom Pioneers. Each February the tournament basketball games were the highlight of her year. She could be heard on the sidelines cheering with all her might and especially proud watching her daughter and grandchildren play sports. When in Gray-New Gloucester she found peace at “Grace Church” and dearly missed that connection when she moved back to Van Buren in 2015. She loved people, loved to talk and loved to tell stories, on occasion repeating herself. She had many friends and since 2023 she relied heavily on them. Many thanks to Linda Laplante, Jeanne Theriault, Joan Prest, Nancy Ouellete, Mona Mongeon, her neighbor Phil Dubay and her sister in- law Muz Parent.
The family would like to thank Cary Medical Center and Borderview Manor for the compassion and care they provided in the last days and weeks.
There will be a graveside service at a later date, with interment at St. Peter Chanel Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Direct Cremation of Belfast. Those wishing to donate in Martine’s memory are encouraged to consider the Aroostook House of Comfort Foundation. Memories and condolences may be shared with her family on her tribute wall.
