Lynne Ann Merchant of Addison passed away on January 6th, 2026 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center surrounded by family. Lynne was born March 14th 1965 in Connecticut. She then moved to Jonesport with her family when she was younger. At age 15 she found the love of her life, Ed Merchant Sr.
Lynne was survived by her husband of 45 years Ed Merchant Sr, and together they raised two sons. Ed Merchant Jr and wife Cindy, William “Billy Bud”Merchant and wife Aura.
Besides her husband and children Lynne loved her grandchildren more than anything, she would talk daily about all of them and she made sure everyone knew how proud she was of those grandchildren. Makayla, Layla, Karson and Liam whom she loved dearly.
Lynne is one of ten siblings, her sisters Laurie which is also her twin, Kitty, Lisa and June. She was predeceased by her brothers Jeff, Bernard, Mike, William Jr and Roland. Along with her brothers she was predeceased by her mother and father William “Arpie” and Hattie Alley, along with other family members including grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and nephews.
Lynne’s life was devoted in hard work, which included digging worms and clams, making wreaths, packing worms, going on the lobster boat with Ed and at times with Billy Bud, but most recent working as a house keeper at magnolia/Evergreen assisted living in Jonesportin which she made a very special friend, Vivian, and she enjoyed her job so much as she loved helping all the residents there. Besides working Lynne raised her pride and joy Ed Jr and Billy Bud who she would do absolutely anything for.
Along with working hard her whole life Lynne had a passion for hunting, in which Ed her loving husband would take her out driving morning and evening looking for deer which she never lost count. The joy you would hear from them as they called their boys telling them all about the deer they saw while out on their drive. You could find Ed and Lynne at the horse track every spring and eventually got her grandchildren to go up so they could enjoy watching the horses as they went around.
Along with her family she had some special friends who always was there for her, Nate and Amanda Barret. Nephews Michael Emerson and wife Megan Kenney, Bj and Abrham Alley, Matthew Merchant and partner Courtney Dahl, David and wife Kaitlin Merchant, along with many other family members.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for their compassionate care during Lynne’s final days. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held February 6th, 2026 at 1 pm at the Community Of Christ Church in Jonesport.
