Alden C. Cook Obituary

Alden C. Cook  “Al”  passed away unexpectedly at home on January 5, 2026.  Al was born September 16, 1944 in Waterville, Maine, to Edward P. Cook and Madeline (Currier) Cook.

He was a proud graduate from Lee Academy in 1964, and he was also president for one year of the alumni association.  He married Donna E Scott on June 29, 1968.

Dad was a third-generation Central Maine Railroad Employee until 1986, then he went on to work for CMP until his retirement.  Dad was a music enthusiast his favorite of all time was John Stewart.  May he be a “ Cannon in the Rain”. He also loved music by the Kingston Trio and Schooner Fare.

Trains were in dad’s blood.  His passion for railroads and trains lasted his whole life.  I’m so happy that we were able to bring him for his last train ride for his birthday this past year.  When he was able to he volunteered at WW and F railway museum, where he made many friends, and he and Mom took many rides on the train.  The Maine coast was a favorite place as well for dad and mom to visit.  They shared a love for seafood, which they passed on to their children.  Dad had a great sense of humor and was often told he should have gone on to be a comedian.

Dad and Mom also spent time when they retired volunteering at Addies Atic.  He also volunteered at the Augusta Food Bank and was a member of the Augusta Elks Club ( which was very important to him) and the Augusta Historical Society.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Donna, his brothers Parker and Paul Cook, brothers-in-law Michael and Roy Scott, sister in laws Sue Cook and Diane Scott.  He also was also predeceased by his cat Mischief, aka Girl Cat.

He leaves behind his daughter Heather Guerrette and her husband Scott of Chelsea, Maine.   His daughter Allison of North Carolina, his pride and joy, his grandchildren William and Michaela Millaway of North Carolina.

Services will be in the Spring May 30, 2026 at Emanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church in Augusta at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Hallowell Cemetery with a luncheon at the Augusta Elks.
